| It must be noted that when doing healing
such as Swedish Massage or Hot Stone Therapy,
it is always best to work on an unclothed
body so that there are no restrictions to
healing or energy flow, yet with this in
mind, I will take into account people’s
sensitivities and religious convictions,
at no time do I wish to offend anyone or
make them feel uncomfortable. When healing
someone’s body in their natural and
unrestricted form, you will find that
are no sexual innuendos, nor gender discrimination,
but a genuine caring for the individual
and concern for their wellbeing.
Swedish Massage
The Swedish Massage is possibly
the most recognized and possibly the most
popular form of massage therapy. The origins
of this massage can be traced back to Professor
Ling (1800's) who realized that it could
be a wonderful vocation for sight impaired
people, he understood that their sense of
touch was so much better than sighted people.
Swedish Massage can be done purely for relaxation
and pleasure, or it can done to address certain
problems and blockages, and therefore create
a deep healing process. It is very beneficial
for sportsmen and women when done in a vigorous
stimulating manner, working deep into the
tissue of the muscles, to assist in breaking
down lactic acids and reducing stiffness.
Swedish Massage can be offered as a back
and neck massage or as a full body massage.
Please remember that when doing a full body
massage it is best to work on an unclothed
body. Extra towels can be used to cover certain
parts of the body, these can then be moved
for access to certain muscle groups. It usually
takes approximately 90minutes and is thorough,
it will entail working on the back, legs
and buttocks, thereafter the clients receive
massage to the front of the legs, belly,
arms, chest, head and face.
Swedish Massage is very beneficial in stimulating
circulation, addressing lymphatic drainage,
loosening tension, as well as bringing about
a sense of well-being, reducing stress levels
and stimulating energies. This massage can
be combined with Hot Stone Therapy, Crystal
Grids, Chakra Balancing and Meridian Therapy.
Parts of this healing modality and it's techniques
are often used in Sensual Healing and in
Couples Massage Workshops.
Indian
Head & Shoulder Massage
This massage technique
is a wonderful gentle and relaxing healing
modality, it deals directly with tension
in the neck and shoulders and can be
used to relieve headaches as well as
open up sinus blockages. This is an excellent
treatment for those who wish to have
shorter healing session and who do not
wish to disrobe or have oils on their
body. It is often used in corporate healing
and can take 15 to 30 minutes, depending
on client's needs. I have found that
it is also popular with the elderly and
frail as they do not have to mount a
table for their session but can sit comfortably
in a chair. Many have found that once
tension has been dealt with in the neck
and shoulders, they find a deep calming
and relaxation when receiving the facial
and scalp massage.
Lomi-Lomi (Kahuna) Massage
This style of massage
has its roots in Huna - the ancient philosophy
and teachings of Hawaii. Huna is not
a religion, it means "secret", and Kahuna
means "keeper of the secret".
The Kahuna is the one who heals, using
the secrets of these ancient teachings.
Huna is a remarkably freeing experience
that expresses itself in every moment
and action of life, and it is celebrated
with great joy as the receiver awakens
to this healing process. Lomi Massage
creates joy and a new deeper self awareness.
Lomi Massage is one
of the more subtle healing arts, it is
a gentle, flowing and yet a deeply healing
process. It is a dance of celebration
as the healer moves with the flow of
energies and is inspired by the music
of life. It intergrates mind, body and
spirit with it's prayerful energy flow
as well as creating a deep sense of meditation
for both the giver and receiver.
Lomi Massage is done
with the utmost respect and love, a love
for healing, and an unconditional love
for another Divine creation, the giver
allows that love and respect to flow
through his hands and into the body of
the receiver. It is an unwritten language,
and the giver allows his hands to speak
and convey this message of healing love
as he manipulates and brings about deep
healing into the most complex of muscle
groups.
It is a joyous celebration
of the senses.
The giver works intuitively,
being able to sense what lies beneath
the skin, being aware of the Chakras
and energies flowing through the body.
As he begins to unblock certain restrictions,
the receiver's body comes alive with
a renewed energy flow and the healing
process becomes transformational as they
become submerged into the pleasures of
healing.
Lomi
massage is a full body massage healing
process, sometimes the receiver will
just wear a sarong, other times they
prefer to be without the sarong so that
they can feel the un-interrupted flow
of the healing and the renewed energies.
Thai Yoga Massage
Thai Massage is also
known as Nuad Bo-Rarn, it is an unique
form of body therapy that has its roots
dating back to ancient times. The taditional
form of Thai Massage incorporates gentle
rocking and deep stretching (of limbs,
joints and back), as well as rythmic
compression, so as to create a different
massage experience.
Thai Massage is different
from the tissue manipulation that everybody
associates with typical massage. This
massage is performed on the floor, fully
clothed and no oils are used. This allows
for many movements and procedures that
are not practical for table work. Working
on the floor allows the most effective
use of the giver's body weight rather
than muscular force used for this healing
process.
Pressure points are
used on energy lines (called "Sen") and is reminiscent
of the meridians used in Chinese acupuncture.
A lot of stretching movements are utilised
increasing flexibility, releasing deep
and superficial tension and also to help
the body's energies flow more freely.
Some of the movements are very similar
to yoga, sometimes it is referred to
as the "lazy man's yoga!"
Thai Massage can be
done as a full body treatment, or part
thereof. With the full body treatment
