“Can
my partner observe while I am being massaged?”
I will allow this in certain cases. It
is not a problem when receiving the “back,
or full body” Swedish Massage, or
even Hot Stone Therapy. Although I do prefer
to work one on one in private with a client
when we are doing Energy Balancing, or
Sensual Healing as you will need to focus
on the energies and cannot have distractions
in the room.
“Do I have to be naked for massage?”
No not at all. I do take certain issues
into consideration, for example religious
convictions, a client’s comfort zone
etc, I would not like to make anyone feel
uncomfortable and over-exposed. I always
have additional towels available to cover
those parts of the body not being worked
on, and also to keep the client warm and
comfortable. The exception to this rule
is when we do Energy Balancing and Sensual
Healing, here I will use a loose towel
which can be maneuvered easily. During
this type of healing I will need an unfettered
approach and full accessibility to the
body as I work along the Chakras and energy
lines of the body.
“Are there any negative effects
to massage?’”
In most cases there will not be a negative
effect. Never consume large amounts of
alcohol before a massage, there could be
a conflict with the Aromatherapy oils being
used and could possibly lead to nausea.
If a therapist works too hard and too long
on a specific area of the body, especially
with a new client, they can cause bruising
of the muscle. Maybe cause that client
to feel stiff and sore the next day. It
is advisable to drink plenty of water after
a therapy to flush out any toxins that
have been loosened. A good therapist will
always be aware of their client’s
needs and limits and never push too hard
or too deep. A good massage will always
make you feel refreshed and relaxed, it
will boost circulation and rid your body
of any blockages and allow a good flow
of energy.
“With your couples workshop, do
we only observe the work and listen to
a lecture?”
No not at all, I believe you have to experience
a “hands-on” approach. We chat
beforehand so that I get to know you better,
I explain the different techniques carefully.
Then when you are ready to begin the class,
one of you will massage the other’s
back. I will guide you through a manual
(which you keep) and correct any mistakes.
After that you trade places so that whoever
received massage now gives massage. This
is how I conduct the class, once the back
and leg work has been completed we take
a short break and discuss what you experienced.
Thereafter we continue with the front of
the body. I have found this to be the best
technique and couples remember the techniques
more effectively
“In a couples workshop what happens
if a man gets aroused?”
This is a perfectly natural
response as he is working with his loved
one. Why should he not get aroused, or
the woman get turned on by his touch. They
are there to learn how to rekindle their
relationship and their intimacy. Nothing
else will happen, they will continue to
learn the massage techniques. I also give
them instruction, as well as hints and
tips on how to keep their partner aroused,
which they can practice later at home.
